Our partners We want to make sure that we treat our customers and our staff as fairly and as equally as possible. The Ombudsman for Equality is an independent authority whose main duty is to supervise compliance with the Act on Equality between Women and Men. The Ombudsman has powers on matters related to gender, gender identity and gender expression. The powers of the Ombudsman consist of both combating discrimination and promoting equality. Cases of discrimination can be reported to the Swedish Equality Ombudsman (Diskrimineringsombudsmannen), a goverment agency that protects equal rights. ‘Discrimination’ includes cases of unfair treatment by an employer in connection with an employee’s parental leave. The Public Services Ombudsman Wales has published his second Equality & Human Rights Casebook highlighting 14 cases where actions or inactions of public bodies within his jurisdiction may have compromised the equality and human rights of individuals.
